SFP+ Series Connector Overview
The SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) module connector supports various data speeds and is a major optical transceiver for data communication. Introduced in early 2000 to replace GBIC connectors, SFP connectors offer greater port density while handling up to 4.25Gb/s based on IEEE 802.3 and SFF-8472 specifications. They support Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SONET, and other standards.
The SFP+ (SFP10) extension, introduced in 2006, supports data rates up to 10Gb/s (IEEE802.3ae, SFF-8431/8432). While similar in size to SFP, SFP+ supports higher-speed standards including 10GbE, Fibre Channel, SONET, and OTN. Both SFP and SFP+ are available in copper and optical variants.
